The Reins of History is a Final Fantasy XII zine created to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the NA release of FFXII. This zine will be free, digital-only and will contain art, fanfiction, and multiple alternate mediums.

FAQ

What will be in the zine?
This zine will have 2D art, fanfiction, any other alternate media contributions. Alternate media will be anything that's not conventional zine work, such as recipes, fibre arts, meta essays, fanmixes or playlists, graphics, in-universe articles, sculpture, painted miniatures - basically anything you can imagine that is able to be showcased in a zine format.

Which characters will be featured in the zine?
Any characters in the entire game will be allowed - this includes NPCs and main party characters.

Can we include ships/romantic content?
Ships and romantic content is absolutely allowed, with the exception of OC/NPC ships.

What about NSFW or potentially taboo works?
All varieties of NSFW will be accepted, and there will be no limits on potentially taboo topics. There will be contents page at the beginning of the zine and all works will be thoroughly tagged, so please use your own discretion as readers in this regard.

Who can apply?
Anyone over 18 can apply, and you can apply to as many categories as you want!Applicants will not be screened based on their prior creations, even if those creations don't fit the restrictions of this particular zine. This includes creators of content often referred to as "problematic". The only exception will be content that deliberately provokes hate or is harmful to actual real-world groups, such as transphobic or racist messages.If you have any questions about this, we encourage you to reach out to the mod on Tumblr (@ffxiievents) or leave a note about it in your application.

How will applications work?
Applicants will be asked to pitch 1-3 ideas for their piece - these can be as vague or as detailed as you like. Don't worry if you've never done FFXII-specific work or if you've never been in a zine at all before. If you are accepted but change your mind about your pitch, that's completely fine too.

Since this will be a digital only zine, is there a limit to how many contributors you're accepting?
There will be no limits on number of contributors! Additionally, there will also be no limits as to how many pieces contributors are allowed to make.
Will this contain spoilers?
Yes, potentially for the whole game.
